This Camaro was produced in the 3rd week of September 1969 in GM's, Norwood, Ohio plant as an X44 base model 2-dr hardtop sport coupe and was fitted with a GM V8 Chevy small block engine that was matched with a THM350 3-speed console-shift automatic transmission and driven through a conventional 10-bolt rear differential. The trim/body plate identifies it as originally painted in GM's LeMans Blue paint, fitted with a White vinyl roof, trimmed with standard Ivory vinyl upholstery and fitted with front bucket seats.

This one is a super solid & honest Camaro. Being an X44 it's not a pedigree car so your are not trapped by a Super Sport or Z/28 heritage. Modify this one as you like, or go back to the original code 71 LeMans Blue paint with a code E white vinyl top and a code 727 Ivory interior. When this one rolled out of the factory, it would have been a great looking car! You really can't go wrong either way though.

Obviously the paint is a love-it or hate-it proposition, but it is unique. Its super vintage and funky, and the more you are around it, the more you like it. That being said however, it is honest driver quality.

The body on this Camaro is one of the most solid one's we have seen in quite some time. It appears the panels are all original with the exception of the steel cowl hood. The floors and trunk pan are very solid, and the quarters and trunk drop offs are equally impressive. The panels all line up well too.

Inside the interior appears to be the original that has been dyed black some time ago. The drivers seat has a few separations revealing the dyed surface. You could easily drive this one a few years while readying yourself for a build. The woodgrain panels have been replaced and look quite nice. The carpet is perhaps the weak point in here, but with the mats in place you dont notice. This one is super serviceable as-is.

Under the bonnet lives a 1970 casting 350cui V8 with a host of period performance improvements. The block started life as a heavy duty truck block to which was added 'Double Hump' heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 650 cfm carburetor, long tube headers and a mild performance cam. The engine runs excellent. The THM350 automatic transmission shifts crisp and clean

The brakes have been replaced with a new kit from CPP. The new disc setup works excellent and has vacuum assist. Braking is confident and consistent.

The current 12-bolt rear diff is a rare unit from a 1967 SS Camaro. It is a direct bolt in and has the provision for the factory traction bar. This car came with a 10-bolt differential which work fine for low horsepower, but the 300HP SS cars came standard with a 12-bolt.

This Camaro is an excellent foundation for restoration, restomod, weekend cruiser or simply just to enjoy as it is!

So there you have it. If you are in the market for an honest Camaro you should really take a look at this one. It's a get-in-and-go machine with no looming projects. It is solid, straight and ready to enjoy and as such you can decide which way to go on your own time!!
